LTC Explained in Santa Banta Style
Santa: Yaar itne saal hue fauj mein Offr bane fir bhi, I am not clear on this LTC bit, am always confused.
Banta: Touch wood, I am quiet clear & tere bhi fundae clear kar deta hun.
Santa: I don't understand this concept of 177 A, B, C..D upar se Block years- Yeh sab kya hai?
Banta: Bada hi Simple hai.....suno:-
177A- Fauji Offr & entire family can visit Hometown from Duty Stn ie where Offr is posted - Every year>har Saal!
177B- Offr & family can visit Anywhere in India from Duty Stn once in a BLOCK of 2 yrs. Now Banta Dear, a Block is counted from Odd to Even year for eg present Block is 2015-16 for all Fauji Offrs. Par jiss saal aap 177B lenge uss saal u cant avail 177A. Simple!
177C- Pehli baat> it's Only for offrs posted to Field. This is an addl entitlement for Offr to vis Family at SPR (yeh do baar use karoge toh family can't use Hometown LTC 177A that year) or for unmarried Offr to visit Hometown twice a year. Off course again not in the year he/she avails 177B.
There is no 177 D....Z!
Summary of 177:-
A- Duty stn to Home Station.
B- Anywhere in India (hope to get SAARC/SE Asia country permissible in VII PC).
C- Field ka addl home visit Bonus.
Santa: Thanks yaar. Yeh to wakai bada simple hai. 177A to bada hi clear hai, Par muze yeh bata ....agar Offr agar field (Leh) mein posted hai, aur family SPR (Pune) mein ho aur ab yeh Saare under 177B - Goa jaana chahte hai. Fir kis tarah entitlement hoga?
Banta: Dekh Bhai, rule clear hai. SPR chahe Pune mein ho (jo ki Goa ke raste mein hai -- while traveling to Goa from Leh) yaa fir Lucknow mein ho, ka hi LTC Destination takk milega aur start point hoga location. Yaane Offr- from Leh to Goa & back to Leh and family from Pune/ Lucknow to Goa & back.
Yaad rahe, under 177B, Family means Only Wife/ Husband of serving offr & children and NOT parents/dependents.
Santa: Can 177B be used for family to visit Offr posted to field.
Banta: Yes kyon nahi they can visit field loc and go back but then Offr loses his own LTC 177B option however in that same year Offr can still use 177C for addl visit to SPR.
Santa: Can I travel by own car or use Taxi for LTC?
Banta: No these journeys are under Govt expense hence only permissible Indian Railways, Indian Airlines (for Officers) and Public Transport ie State run Bus or Steamer. The Civil Aviation deviations as you get for TD travel by different airlines is not allowed under LTC.
Santa: Yaar I don't understand this LTC Leave Encashment thing, yeh kya hai?
Banta: Post VI PC, we all can encash 10 days leave every two years Block with LTC ie the year you use 177B. All that you do is publish a Part II order to this effect and 10 days of your current Pay entitlement is credited to your account apart from regular pay. This is a Bonus to facilitate your expdr in LTC. No bills are to be att at all.
Do Baate Yaad Rahe,
Pehli baat- this 10 days is over and above 300 days of lve encashment benefit upon retirement and
Doosri - this is applicable in same measure to all Ranks.

Banta: Yeh sabb mote taur par hai. Aisi ek doosre ji salah to theek hai lekin agar LTC ke baare mein aur koi doubt ho to Best idea pata kya hai?
