On bonds being secret. 

Till 2015, everything was a secret. And cash below 20k Rs was not required to be accounted for. 

Remember AAP transparency website which showed all donations below 20k.

And BSP affidavit saying cash worth 100s of crores given by party workers as gift to mayavati?

Well, famous arun jaitley speech on EB issue in parliament explained this secrecy.

Earlier, bjp wanted transparency (they got less, while congress got more donations).

But opposition opposed it,saying it will lead to witch hunt on corporates.

So arun jaitley introduced via media. Transparency individually but no connect between donor / recipient.

Parties to issue political bonds and corporates to purchase through Sbi Only.

Corporates name not revealed, but parties to make donations received public on ECI website.

System was fine, till ADR (soros, omdiyar funded) wanted full transparency. Which SC agreed (rightfully).

SBI wanted to link donor receipient (misunderstanding the SC order), but SC clarified as is , where is data to be published.

SBI gave data to ECI and published.

Consequences. 

1. Indian government (and parliament) failed to protect corporates confidentiality (inspite if law promising so).

From now on, corporate will be wary on govt promises.

2. Raw data will lead to speculation and rumors will fly thick. Everyone will assume bjp quid pro quo.

(BTW, lottery Martin is the biggest donor, pet of kerala and bjp govt is behind him).

3. Eventually, thus will lead to usa type lobbying. Where legal money to each MP to vote fir certain law as required by corporates.

4. Hasty mov by SC. 

More damaging to reputation of India rather than political parties/ corporates
