An Investor Shares his Methodology of Booking Profit

We are sharing an experience of an investor of the methodology being used by him for the investments.

Although its like "Suraj ko Diya dikhana", still sharing my practise of selling the stocks

Whenever I make a purchase, at that very point I decide my expectation from the stock. 

I note down my expectation from every stock in an excel, so that it's not only relying on my weak memory and it remains insulated from my emotions.......The expectations generally are one of below :

Another investment methodology

1. Never sell- this I adopt for large-cap or stocks in which I have faith for the next 8-10 yrs

2. Sell to take out investment after a 25% to 30% gain. - This strategy I adopt for PSU stocks or high-risk stocks

3. Sell completely after a particular pre-decided gain. This is to take advantage of any news or event associated with a stock.

One small piece of advice. Segregate the following

1. Long-term portfolio 

2. Short-term stock investment < 1 year

3. Pure trading ( F&O).

Don't sell long-term stocks unless the management commits fraud, the company gets into bankruptcy or some big unforeseen event. 

Wealth creation happens over the long term only with minimum churn.
