India statistics wise is amongst the best-affected countries. All because our base is 130 crore population. But what beyond that. The lockdown which was well implemented has led us to good statistics. We need to realize that we are now in a situation of diminishing returns. At least we don't need views of our bureaucrats which feed the govt to the decision making of the govt. The leaders are fed what they feel will help them remain in power and not in the national interest.
Take Europe and the USA. Has hell broken loose if 60000 have died in the USA and about 20000 plus in half a dozen countries in Europe? We lose 12-15000 in road accidents every year. What have our thinkers done. They can lock up the country to save their image but cannot control these deaths. Take TB. It kills more people but they are the poor lot. Their statistics don't get publicity.
Now I am happy to be accused of opposing the further lockdown. What about Narayan Murthy. Don't ask me who's he. He has also said we will be in deeper trouble ahead. Must open up. So many other business leaders, Raghuram Rajan about India and economists and financial wizards of international fame-seeking end to lockdown with certain measures being taken. They are rich enough to enjoy the luxuries of life without doing anything. But they have concerns based on their knowledge and statistics from past crises of all kinds in the last century.

Unfortunately, death has its own selection. I would not mind being amongst the 50 crore Indians who if they die will leave a better India behind. Our population is not our strength. It's the biggest weakness. India is 1/3 or slightly larger than each of the largest five countries other than China.
USA, Canada, Russia, Australia, and Brazil. Put together they are 14 times larger than India. Our population is more than twice of these countries.
