Here is my take...
All this depends on the Belief and Value system. Someone who believes in Prayers, it can work wonders for him. Someone who doesn't believe, might not benefit from it.
Not sure if you know about it. Sachin Tendulkar believed in his left pad
first charm.
Despite all his talent, even the Master Blaster believed that putting on his left pad before the right one brings him luck. He also got his lucky bat repaired before the 2011 World Cup as that was the one tournament he has always wanted to win.
My mother to date does that Nazar utarna business for me. And same has been picked up by my wife now and she is doing it for my son even though she used to giggle when it was being done to me initially.
People go all the way to Azmer Sharif to tie that thread... people queue up at Shirdi, Tirupati and the likes, Vatican is connecting with its people. Almost everyone is trying to reach out to everyone wherever they are feeling some hope.
When people are cornered, they are ready to resort to anything... anything means anything... and it works for people. If not in literal solution but it gives them hope. And all I can say is that not everyone is privileged like us to have facilities and resources to deal with #Lockdown and #COVID tension.
People are worried and have anxiety. Even all the corporates are recommending talking with staff, your vendors, your suppliers. I am attending Webinars from abroad and people from across the globe are recommending that stay in touch with your people. All the clinical physiologists are out in the open and people are reaching out to them like never before.
So I would not like to look down upon the idea of this connection. Those who agree with Modi and like him, should connect with him. Those who don't like him have the option of avoiding him. They can connect with Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Shashi Tharoor, Aamir Khan, MS Dhoni or anyone in the world who can give them some hope. And hope is not a bad thing to have while dealing with this unprecedented calamity.
I have seen the Thali-Bajo jokes already doing the rounds but I have seen several people from their balconies supporting the move last time and I would not be surprised if this time too, he gets enormous support. No doubt there were some odd ones who messed it up last time but the majority of people did it the right way.
So if an elected Prime Minister wants to connect with his people, by all means he should be allowed to connect without the unnecessary sarcasm.
