We present below the pent up feeling of the workforce in their own words which shows the real pain of working from the home.
The problem with India is that we start flying without developing wings and 1+1 becomes 11 for us. WFH for a few weeks is a compulsion, no choice. Is it viable practical to WFH on a permanent basis??
Bachelors who migrate from small towns to Tier1/Tier II cities mostly live as PGs in rented flats. It is most common for 4-6 PGs staying in 2 bhk flat with 2 washrooms. It is too much if corporates are dreaming that such homes ( where 1 guy has 1 charpoy and small kabad ) can be permanent work place. Yes people who must be owning 4-5 bhk big apartment can WFH
Employees do look for decent work ambiences in terms of lavish office with all amenities like coffee, canteen, gym and whatnot.
And socialising with colleagues is added bonus for them as it adds to their knowledge and circle of friendship or whatever
Even for married men with family ( wife and 1-2 kids, maybe aged parents also) it is most common to live in 1 bhk or 2 bhk flats. Now due to lockdown, there is no activity at home, so these professionals somehow managing to work.
Once life returns to normalcy, impossible to work from home as kids noise kids education, wife's friends, neighbours, milkman newspaper wala, maids, afternoon nap. And will a professional have space for a full-fledged work station in his pigeon hole size apartment? Surprised at naive thinking of big guns. Bizarre dreaming. Everybody needs a little more space and time away from home.
If WFH was possible on a permanent basis, globally 80% of commercial space would be a permanent place for quarantine.
