We are thankful to Mr Nandan Nilekani that under his guidance 60 Crore Aadhar cards have been issued. The Aadhaar cards were to be received by post which were never received and we went ahead with the procedure to download the Aadhaar card online here. On downloading the card we found that our temporary address is listed on it instead of our permanent address.  So, we wanted to updated the data for Aadhaar card. You can update your name, gender, date of birth, address and mobile number through this procedure.

Background to Aadhaar Card

The initiative to issue an Aadhaar to every resident in India has, at its heart, an ambitious objective: to enable residents identify themselves anytime anywhere. The Aadhaar platform helps service providers authenticate identity of residents electronically, in a safe and quick manner, making service delivery more effective and efficient.

UIDAI has partnered with various stakeholders including Reserve Bank of India, National Payments Corporation of India and banks to develop two key platforms:

(a) Aadhaar Payments Bridge (APB) : A system that facilitates seamless transfer of all welfare scheme payments to beneficiary residents' Aadhaar Enabled Bank Account (AEBA)

(b) Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) : A system that leverages Aadhaar online authentication and enables AEBAs to be operated in anytime-anywhere banking mode by the marginalized and financially excluded segments of society through microATMs
