LTC
Leave Travelling Concession (LTC) for govt servants has been designed to provide them with an opportunity to visit far flung areas on holiday without worrying for travelling cost within a block of 2 years. LTC to travel to any distant place for holiday is available once in a block of 2 years. LTC can be subdivided in 2 heads namely under para 177A and 177BHow to calculate Block of Year for LTC?
The block of year for LTC is always ending in even year. Thus block of year will be something like 2013-2014 and so on. See that 2013 is odd number year and 2014 is even number year.
How to get best benefit from LTC?
- 177A para of LTC pertains to the fact that you can travel to your home town.
- 177B para of LTC pertains to the fact that you can travel anywhere as per your entitled class in India.
- As a thumb rule remember to use LTC Rule 177A in odd number year and in even year use LTC 177B. Why we are suggesting so that even if you do not visit distant place either in odd year or even year, you still have the flexibility till the end of the block of year to be able to use the distant place facility or you can use it to visit the home town. Crux point is that do not use 177B in odd year to travel to home time and keep it till the end of the block of year so that whenever you decide to visit for holiday to any distant place; you can use this facility because 177B is a good facility offered by the govt and is of utmost useful for defence and para military forces personnel.
