This is a welcome step by Google where they have used the technology to help the people access the basic information. Google says that this crisis map is only an early version aimed at providing quick information about places affected, relief centers and road closures. As always, in times of such disaster, accurate information is hard to come by and our team has relied on scantily available information where available. We rely on all of you to contribute to better information and improve the accuracy over the coming days. You can search such type of map on Google by searching with keyword Google crisis map - Uttrakhand or name of the state where tragedy has struck. In below chart RED persons are depicted as stranded persons and Yellow houses are relief camps.
In case you do have information to share, please write into Emergency help line numbers:

Verdict
It is a good effort by Google but our question remains to the Govt of India that can't they have a solid Indian website where sub links are given for states and each state should have an administrator who uploads lates input about the incidents and schemes and people do not have to run from pillar to post to access information. It has to be a one stop website which should provide all the inputs about the state, its functioning and any other investment related activity. HOPE GOVT OF INDIA TAKES A CUE FROM THIS CRISIS MAP AND GETS CRACKING. This is what is called as true use of technology by updating inputs and helping people get information at a click of button.
