Zomato has a good figures to contribute with it contributing the revenues of Rs 11.38 crore at an EBITDA loss of Rs 10.03 crore for financial year ended March 31, 2013. This has come to the light courtesy Info Edge India Pvt Ltd public disclosure of income which it got from Zomato.
In Feb 2013 a sum of Rs 55 Crore has been pumped by Infoedge into Zomato and inturn it has got a controlling stake 57.9% holding. Zomato claims state that it has over 11 million users per month and it is planning to expand into continental Europe, the Middle East, South America and South-East Asia in 2013. It is worthwhile to mention here that Zomato was founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah in July 2008, for restaurants in Delhi. Presently Zomato has expanded its services to 21 cities in seven countries and it has even launched a country specific site in South Africa by launching a website in Johannesburg. Our heartiest congratulations to Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah for working out a model which is generating money for them.
Verdict
A good vision can help one rake money just by leveraging the technology and internet. Infoedge business and Zomato business are a case in point that a dedicated entrepreneur can easily make money by leveraging the technology to their advantage.
