Looking for facts and figures for Foreign Institutional investors (FIIS) investment in India, than it is worthwhile to note that FIIs investment has crossed $150 billion mark of net investments made in Indian stocks in last two decades.
Data released by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) shows that FIIs have had net investment of $152 billion till 30 October 12, including $3.5 billion this month that took the total value above of $150 billion mark.
SEBI’s data that has record since November 1992 shows that FIIs have made $119.6 billion of net investment in equity and $32.4 billion in debt through stock exchanges, primary investments or other routes. As per the regulators records there are 1751 registered FIIs in India.
This is a significant investment by FIIs in Indian market and we must increase the depth of our Indian markets so that sudden flight of Fiis money should not create a dent in Indian markets.
