We all know that banks value current accounts a lot as these accounts are like a cash cow for the banks but when it comes to providing them with a service, than they are given a short change. Banks derive a lot of its profit from current account holders money in bank as they need not pay any interest on the amount held by them in the said account.
Have a look at below screenshot where as a current account user, when you use your debit card to draw cash from other bank ATM, you get charged @ Rs 20 plus service tax for the transaction. One wonders if current account holders have done some crime by doing a business legally by operating business transactions through current account instead of a saving account.
Hope that banking sector wakes to the reality and makes both saving and current accounts privileges at par as banking sector earns a lot through CASA deposits. We request RBI to step in get the things in order to avoid putting current account holders at a disadvantageous position vis-a-vis saving account holders.
