It is good that UPA govt has finally woken up from the slumber and have taken bold steps which can be called as better late than never and are as enumerated below:
- Increased prices of subsidised diesel by Rs 5/litre ( 12% hike in diesel prices will immediately increase transportation cost and we need to be ready for increase in freight charges which has been already announced by truck unions and nt to forget the inflation will again rise as all essential items will become dearer due to increased cost in transportation)
- Capped the subsidy outgo on LPG by restricting supply of subsidised gas cylinders to 6 per family per year.
- Allowed 51% foreign direct investment (FDI) into multi brand retail and airlines.
It appears that this time they have decided to take the bulls by horn and in this case bull is Mamata Banerjee. I think this time she will have to eat her words. UPA govt has taken the action post monsoon session that none can stall the Parliament session now.
