We wonder that why govt can not announce the hike on the same date from which hike is got to be applied. It is a simple formula which is to be applied to get the requisite hike percentage depending on the inflation and a number of other parameters fed in the formula and this formula is linked to consumer price index for industrial workers.
Nonetheless better late than never and Central Govt Employees gets a 7% hike with DA being raised from 65% to 72% wef 01 July 2012.
The cost to exchequer will be Rs 4,939 crore benefitting more than 80 lakh employees and pensioners. The annual burden on account of the DA increase has been estimated at Rs 7,408 crore.
Finally the news which is generally reserved for 15 Aug announcement by Prime Minister is made public and at least govt servants can heave a sigh of relief.
We had written long back about the correct DA allowance hike percentage due for central govt employees here
