We take the opportunity to wish our brethren and Sisters across the world Eid-ul-Fitr 2012 Mubarak. "Eid" in Arabic translates to "Celebration" or "Festivity", while "Fitr" means "Breaking" (the fast).
Our Muslim brethren from across the globe celebrates the happy ending of the Holy month of Ramadan after 30 days of fasting. The whole purpose of fasting in this month is to learn the art of self-discipline, and one has to realize the sufferings of the poor.
With the Eid celebrations today we see a curtain on following events taking place :
- Ramadan Kareen 2012 has drawn to a close.
- End of 1433rd Ramadan according to the Islamic (Hijri) Calendar.
- on the eve of Eid, or "Chaand-Raat" (Moon night, because it's when the moon is sighted signalling the onset of the next lunar month).
- With this Chand we also have a Hindi phrase which goes by the phrase “AAp to Eid Ka Chand Ho Gaye” due to rare sighting.
