It is good that India has finally woken to the requirement of going liberal on the acquisition of land process as it can help our economy grow at a fast pace.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has relaxed the norms for transfer of government land for infrastructure projects. This will remove bottlenecks and speed up public-private partnership projects. With this, there will be no requirement for Cabinet approvals that earlier led to long delays in awarding concessions for infrastructure projects, particularly PPP ones in sectors like road, railways, civil aviation, ports and metro rail.
Probably the reforms has come into play due to the problems which had erupted during Tata Nano project and it appears to be a flash point for these reforms.
