We can call NEFT and RTGS as a revolution as it has made standing in queues in a bank left only to non computer literate personnel. If you have net banking enabled you can transfer funds to any bank from the comfort of your bed room.
Now question comes that whether it is free or not and answer is that a nominal sum of Rs 5 with service tax @ 12.6%is chargeable on said 5 rupees and thus it is more or less free with the kind of convenience it provides. However we will request RBI to do away with this amount as making it absolutely free will increase computer literacy among Indians and will also remove pressure from public sector banks which are over flooded with pensioners.
