It is a great news that VoIP services have been allowed under the National Telecom Policy 2012. The decision has been taken in a meeting on 06 Mar 2012 and once the it comes into play, than the users can use their handsets to call other phone users through the Internet, provided the handsets are compliant with the technology.
Currently, Indian laws only allow VoIP calls to a telephone in India under strict conditions. However, they allow such calls between computers within the country’s borders and between a computer in India and a telephone (fixed or wireless) outside India.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is likely to be most benefitted as the company has a pan India licence and spectrum to offer wireless mobile broadband services.
