Duronto trains or so called bullet trains are going to be reality in India as we are likely to see Mumbai – Ahmedabad corridor to be covered in 4 hours becoming a reality in rail budget.
This is good as journey time will be reduced as first trains are likely to run at 200 KM per hour which is likely to improve to 300 Km per hour with track and infrastructure improvements.
Railway authorities claim that this corridor would be the much-needed fillip for Indian Railways, and have estimated the high-speed line to cost Rs 60,000 crore. As per the report, the project would take at least ten years to complete and private investment would be pivotal to finance the project.

Railways are also exploring the route on the Mumbai-Delhi stretch as part of high-speed corridor and this is likely to run between Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Kota and Mathura.
