Sumeet Industries (SUMEETIN) is engaged in the manufacture and marketing of polyester and polypropylene yarn, woven fabrics, menthol and allied products. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Aug. 01, 1988 and was converted into a public limited company on Feb. 01, 1992. Earlier known as Sumeet Synthetics, it got its present name on Mar. 16, 1996. The company is part of the Rajasthan-based Shankarlal Somani group, which is active in the fabric-processing business in Surat. Akash Ganga Processors, Sitaram Prints, Sanya Fashions, Vasant Fabrics, Tarana Prints, Chintan Processors, J. P. Prints, Bajrang Processors, and Meera Creations are other group companies. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company produces dope-dyed polypropylene yarn; polyester semi dull intermingled partially oriented yarn; woven fabric; oil shivalik crude, dry and melted flakes and power, bold crystals, menthone, hexanol and peppermint oil. The manufacturing units are located in Surat, Gujarat with installed capacities of 4,000 MTPA Polypropylene Partially Oriented yarn, 3,900 MTPA polypropylene textured / crimp yarn, 1,200 MTPA polypropylene twisted yarn, 12,500 MTPA polyester yarn, 900 MTPA peppermint oil, 300 MTPA menthol crystal, and a capacity to produce 4 million meters of woven fabric per annum with 60 waterjet looms. The company has been awarded a CRISIL rating of SME2 on Jan. 02, 2008. Products like polypropylene yarn are marketed under the brand name Sumilon and have an approximate market share of 20% in India. With a well developed sales network across India, the major export destinations include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, South Africa, Nepal, Bangladesh, Spain, China and Europe.
