Shree Cement, belonging to the Calcutta-based Bangur group, is one of the largest cement producers in Rajasthan. The company, incorporated in the year 1979, has two plants in Beawar, Rajasthan with an installed capacity of 2.6 million tonnes. It is the largest single location manufacturer with production in Northern India. The company markets its products under two brands, Shree Ultra Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Shree Ultra Red Oxide Cement (ROC). For the last 18 years, the company`s capacity utilization has been far superior than the industry in general. The company is one of the few to operate both its captive power and cement plants with an alternate, low-cost fuel like pet coke. It has also tied up with IKN, Germany, to incorporate their KIDS system in the clinker cooler to improve the efficiency of the clinker cooler and save heat. The company has set up a greenfield project at village Ras in Pali district of Rajasthan. The capacity of the plant is 3000 tpa of clinker production with an approximate investment of about Rs 3 billion. It is based on latest technology, provided by KHD Humboldt Wedag & GEBR Pfeiffer - Germany. SCL is also expanding the power generation capacity of its captive power plant. Financials The company reported rise of 192.10% in standalone net profit on y-o-y basis to Rs 657.30 million, while total income climbed 12.86% y-o-y basis to Rs 10.70 billion for the quarter ended March 2011.
