Asian Paints, established in 1942, stands as India's largest paint company and the third largest paint company in Asia, with a turnover of Rs 36.7 billion (around USD 851 million). Asia Paints was formerly known as Asian Paints (India) Limited. Asian Paints operates in Berger International, Apco Coatings, SCIB Paints and Taubmans.
Asian Paints is one of the few vertically integrated paint companies in India with an in-house manufacturing facility of Pthalic-Anhydride and Pentaerythritol. Asian Paints has extensively computerized its operations in India using the cutting edge solution provided by SAP and i2. Asian paints products include wall paints, metal paints, wood finishes, primers and others.
The company exists both in decorative and industrial coating segment. The industrial coating segment comprises automotive coating, powder coating and protective coating. Besides Asian Paints, the group operates around the world through its subsidiaries Berger International, Apco Coatings and SCIB Chemicals. The company also has a 50:50 joint venture with Pittsburgh Paints and Glass Industries (PPG) of USA.
