Tinplate Company of India (TCIL) was incorporated in 1920 and produces electrolytic tinplate. It also sells the cold-rolled coils produced as an intermediate product while making tinplates. TCIL pioneered the manufacture of tinplate in India and today, with a market share of over 35%, is the country`s largest producer of tinplate. The company recently entered into a technical agreement with Nippon Steel of Japan and its future focus is on developing cost-effective and innovative packaging solutions that offer convenience features to food processors and packers as well as end customers. TCIL is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO1400:1996 certified company. Tinplate Company of India has also won the coveted JRD QV Award in the Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM) assessment for the year 2007. The company exports its products to West Asia, South East Asia, Europe and countries neighbouring India. The company has its registered office in Kolkata and belongs to the Tata group.
