Thermax (THERMAX) is one of the few companies in the world offering total integrated solutions in the areas of heating, cooling, power, water, waste and air pollution management and chemicals. It was originally incorporated on June 30, 1980 and went public on July 1, 1989. The managing director is M. S. Unnikrishnan. The company manufactures products in the areas of energy generation, environmental conservation and control, ion exchange resins and chemicals and various components and spares. It has five manufacturing facilities.
The major products of the company are boilers and heaters, water/wastewater reuse and recycling plants, absorption cooling solutions, pollution control equipment and captive power plants that operate on a variety of fuels. The company also manufactures a range of resins, specialty chemicals and cleaning compounds. Two new manufacturing facilities in Savli, Gujarat and Zhejiang in China will be fully operational by March 2008. The company has joint ventures and alliances with Babcock & Wilcox, USA; Kawasaki Thermal Engineering Company, Japan; Eco Tech, Canada; Honeywell, USA; Bloom Engineering, Germany; and Struthers Wells and Ozone Systems, USA. Thermax Babcock & Wilcox is currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. Thermax Co-en (TCGL), Thermax Electronics (TEL) and Winman Gas (WGL) have been amalgamated with the company. Thermax is to wind up its subsidiary Thermax Energy Performance Services. Thermax is headquartered in India with 12 sales and service offices and a widespread franchisee and dealer network. Its international operations are spread over South East Asia, Middle East, Africa, Russia, UK and the US. Its registered office is at D13, MIDC Industrial Area, R. D.
