Shri Lakshmi Cotsyn (SHLAKSHMI) is a Kanpur-based textile major. It was incorporated in 1988. The company offers fusible interlinings; embroidered cotton and tissue fabric and lace; assorted 100% cotton terry towels; 100% cotton yarn denim fabrics; wide width sheetings and furnishings like bed linen; bottom weight fabrics in plain, satin and twills; yarn-dyed shirtings; clothing for defence like nylon PU coated, water and fire repellent fabrics, bullet proof jackets, and ballistic helmets. The manufacturing units are located in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Sonepat in Haryana, and Banta Khera Roorkee in Uttaranchal with annual installed capacities of 20 million meters denim fabric, 12 million meters sheeting fabric, and 6 million meters bottom weight fabric. The completed expansion has enabled a growth of 78.38% in FY07 over the previous year.
A new garment unit has been set up in Noida with a manufacturing capacity of 1.5 million pieces per annum, which commenced commercial production from November, 2007. Extending activities to new geographies like UAE, a wholly owned subsidiary SLCL Overseas FZC (Sharjah) has been formed, which commenced business from Jan. 1, 2007. The company has taken a 49% stake in Armet Armored Vehicles (India), a joint venture company, with Armet Armored Vehicles (UK) for manufacturing armored vehicles in India. The new joint venture company is expected to get orders for approximately 100 vehicles from the Middle East and Asian countries in FY08. The company has raised USD 10 million from the issue of foreign currency convertible bonds through the Singapore Stock Exchange late in 2007. Around 500 retail outlets across India would be opened over a period of three years through distributors, franchisee and exclusive brand outlets.
