Ruby Mills (RML) was incorporated in 1917 as a composite textile mill mainly manufacturing cottons. Currently, the company is into the manufacturing of cotton and blended yarns, custom made fabrics from various manmade and natural fibers and ecofriendly textiles. RML has two plants located at Dadar in Central Mumbai and Dhamni on Mumbai-Pune Highway. The Dadar plant is involved in spinning, weaving, processing and printing of textile fabrics. RBL has forward integration into processed knit fabrics in tubular form. The Dhamni plant was established in 1992 and is among one of the most modern spinning units. Since 1996, the company is manufacturing micro dot fusible interlining and basic interlining in technical collaboration with Gygli Textil AG, Switzerland. Mukesh Ambani`s Reliance Retail is likely to purchase Ruby Mills in Dadar for approximately Rs 4 billion to set up Mumbai`s largest hypermarket. Senior officials have had a series of meetings with Manharlal Chunnilal Shah, executive chairman of Ruby Mills, for the past few months and are likely to sign a deal soon.
