McNally Bharat Engineering Company (MCNALLYB), incorporated in 1961, is engaged in providing turnkey engineering solutions. Earlier known as McNally Bird Engg. Co., it got its present name in 1972. The company is owned jointly by the Williamson Magor group which has Williamson Magor & Co., one of the world`s largest manufacturers of tea, and the G. P. Birla group, a major global entity with companies like Birla Global Infotech Services and the US-based Birla Soft. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company provides turnkey solutions in the power, steel, alumina, material handling, mineral beneficiation, coal washing, ash handling and disposal, port cranes, civic, industrial water supply and other areas. Over 250 plants have been constructed on turnkey basis by the company. It manufactures feeders; crushers; mills; screens; and port handling equipment like reach stackers, crawler cranes and gantry type cranes. It has its plants located in Kumardhubi (Jharkhand) and Bangalore. In February 2008, as part of its expansion plans, it decided to spend Rs 2 billion on procuring heavy engineering equipment and a forging unit in West Bengal over a period of 15 months. Major orders bagged in FY08 include a Rs 6,218.8 million order from Steel Authority of India (SAIL) for the supply of a raw material handling system ore handling plant required at the IISCO steel plant and a Rs 705.8 million worth order for its expansion at the Bokaro steel plant; an order from Uranium Corporation of India for Rs 1,984.4 million for crushing, grinding, neutral thickening, sand slime separation, tailing disposal, water, compressed air and allied system for Tummalapalle Project, Andhra Pradesh; and an order from Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Bangalore, for supply of a ash-handling system - mechanical package for DVC Mejia Phase B units 1 and 2 (2 x 500 mw) valued at Rs 289.2 million among several other major orders. The company entered into agreements with Tyazhpromexport (TPE) of Moscow and VAI Pomini of Austria for participating in the modernization and expansion of steel plants in India. Subsidiaries include EWB Kornyezetvedelmi Kft., Hungary and Eriez-MBE India in Bangalore, a 60:40 joint venture between Eriez Magnetics, USA and MBE. Eriez Magnetics based in Erie, Pennsylvania.
