Kirloskar Brothers (KIRLBROS), incorporated on Jan. 15, 1920, is a manufacturer and exporter of centrifugal pumps in India. The company is a part of the century old Kirloskar group, which has business interests in major sectors like manufacturing, oil and gas, power, construction and mining, agriculture, industry and transport. Kirloskar Ferrous Industries, Kirloskar Middle East FZE, Kirloskar Oil Engines, Kirloskar Pneumatic Company, Kirloskar Proprietary, Kirloskar Ebara Pumps, Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies are group companies. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company manufactures a wide range of pumps, valves, anti-corrosion products, hydel turbines, and other products. It undertakes projects in fluid-handling, turnkey fluid-handling projects in irrigation, power, process, water supply and sewerage, turnkey small hydel projects and protective surface coating. It has set up has set up one of the Asia`s largest hydraulic research centre with testing facilities for pumps and is the only pump manufacturing company in India to manufacture canned motor pumps for harsh and toxic chemicals and liquid sodium pumps for special applications. The projects and engineered pumps group divided into the business groups of `infrastructure pumping projects` and `projects and engineered pumps` has entered into the international EPC contracts business with an order for El Malha Irrigation project. Major achievements include their debut order for sewage treatment plant, execution of the world`s largest pumping system as per schedule and approval of KBL from Bechtel for their global power projects. The agricultural and domestic pumps group performed registered a growth of 68% over the previous year. It has started focusing on institutional marketing. Corporate research and engineering division successfully obtained US patent for the energy saving application of a siphon system used in the world`s largest pumping scheme project of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam on the Saurashtra branch canal. With seven international offices already established, the corporate international division awaits further expansion. The company continues to be the largest exporter of pumps from India with products being routed to over 70 countries across five continents. It has two joint ventures, namely, Kirloskar Ebara Pumps and Kirloskar Copeland. The company has acquired a UK based company, namely, SPP Pumps and more recently acquired 100% stake in the Chennai based Aban Constructions.
