Gujarat State Fertilisers & Chemicals (GSFC) is engaged in manufacturing and marketing fertilizers, petrochemicals, chemicals, industrial gases, plastics, fibers and other products. The company was promoted by the government of Gujarat on Feb. 15, 1962. GSFC manufactures industrial products like anhydrous ammonia, argon gas, caprolactam, melamine, methyl ethyl ketoxime, nylon, oleum, sulphuric acid, nitric acid, etc; fertilizers like urea, ammonium sulphate, gypsum, etc; biofertilizers like azotobacter culture, phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB); biofuels, plant tissue and seeds; biotech products like gibberellic acid (Sardargib), plant growth promoter and protection agents (Sardarvam), etc. It also trades in biofungicides, fungicides and zinc sulphate.
It provides services in horticulture, agriculture development and services (Sardar Agrinet), micro irrigation, training and vermi-compost technology. It has an applications development centre (ADC) which develops innovative applications of various industrial products manufactured by the company for cost-effective end uses. The company has its fertilizer and associated units in Fertilizernagar, Vadodara district, a fiber unit in Kosamba, diammonium phosphate plant in Sikka, Jamnagar, and a polymer unit in Nandesari. The company has promoted companies like Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company, Gujarat Industries Power Company, and Gujarat Green Revolution Company. GSFC is an ISO certified company and recent awards include the National Award for Excellence in Cost Management for 2006 by the Minister of Corporate Affairs and the Award for Production, Promotion & Marketing of Bio-fertilizers, by Fertilizer Association of India-New Delhi.
