Gujarat Fluorochemicals (GUJFLUORO) manufactures refrigerant gases in India. Promoted by Industrial Oxygen Company and Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation, the company was incorporated on Feb. 4, 2007. The company uses chloroform (CHCl3), fluorspar (CaF2) and sulphuric acid as the main feedstock to produce hydro chlorofluorocarbon 22 (HCFC22) in a swing plant operation. The plant is located in Ranjitnagar, Gujarat. The company is expanding its HCFC capacity to 25,000 tons/year from 16,000 tons/year. The project would result in increased production capacity for the by-product hydrochloric acid to 72,500 tons/year compared with 46,400 tons/year. The capacity of the second by-product gypsum would increase to 48,800 tons/year compared with 32,752 tons/year.
The capacity of the third by-product fluorosilicic acid would fall marginally to 1,925 tons/year compared with 1,987 tons/year. The company has implemented a project for greenhouse gas emission reduction by thermal oxidation of HFC23 in Gujarat, India. The company has also set up a new wind farm project of 23.1 MW capacity at Gudhe, Maharashtra at a total cost of approximately Rs 1.6 billion. This project will supply the entire generated power to Maharasthra State Electricity Distribution Company under an electricity purchase agreement for 13 years. The project having 14 wind turbines was commissioned in March 2007. The company supplies its products to major white goods makers like Amtrex, Carrier Aircon, Kelvinator, Godrej, Voltas, ..etc. The company has formed a subsidiary Inox Liesure, which has a chain of 13 multiplex theatres in nine cities in India.
