City Union Bank (CITUNIBA) commenced operations in the year 1904 in Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu. The bank was previously known as Kumbakonam Bank. In 1965, local banks City Forward Bank and the Union Bank were amalgamated with it and consequently, the name was changed to Kumbakonam City Union Bank. In the year 1987, the bank acquired its present name. It is one of the leading scheduled commercial banks in the private sector with major presence in urban, semi-urban and rural centers in South India. Currently, the bank has presence in seven states and two union territories with 130 branches, three extension counters, and an international banking division in Chennai. The bank is a category I merchant banker and has been the lead manager and underwriter of many issues. City Union Bank has been inducted as a member of the Cash Tree ATM-sharing network where the customers of 12 banks can access over 3,500 ATMs across the country.
