A typical case has come to light where a company by the name of PhoenDog LLC has filed a lawsuit against company blogger and Smartphone reviewer Noah Kravitz in Dec 2011. The reason for the lawsuit is that individual after leaving the company has also carried 17000 Twitter followers which he had amassed while working with company with user id as @Phonedog_Noah
The individual left the company in October 2010 and with him carried the followers and to play spoil sport he has changed the Twitter id to @noahkravitz and has kept the 17,000 followers he had amassed during his time at PhoenDog.
PhoenDog LLC has asked for a monetary compensation from Noah@ $2.50 per follower and it works out to whopping $340,000.
Now this case will be watched by all the companies with keenness as Court’s has allowed the Phoendog company to proceed with the case as PhoenDog has met the minimum requirements to survive a motion seeking to throw PhoenDog’s claims out of court. However it needs to be seen if the company will be able to claim compensation.
This lawsuit is going to be a precedent-setting lawsuit as it will be “fact specific” and judged on the individual merits and similar situations faced by other company’s.
