Bhagwati Banquets and Hotels (BHAGWATIHO) started out as a genuine Delhi chat outlet and today operates and manages the Grand Bhagwati and a chain of restaurants spread across Ahmedabad. Incorporated on Nov. 1, 1999 as a private limited company, it was subsequently converted into a public limited company on April 13, 2000. After its modest beginning, the company started operations at the Grand Bhagwati in 2002 and was ISO certified by KPMG. In 2005, it took over the business of Bhagwati International, a partnership firm engaged in the business of running restaurants and food courts; the entire business of TGB Resorts Karnavati, a partnership firm engaged in the business of maintaining rooms and restaurants at the Karnavati Club; and the assets and entire outdoor catering business of Bhagwati Caterers. The Grand Bhagwati was soon accredited with three-star certification by HRACC, Govt. of India. It has 37 rooms and huge state-of-the-art pillar-less banquet halls which can accommodate 50 to 1,200 people at a time with ease. It also has three multi-cuisine restaurants and is a landmark for all kinds of functions and conventions. Work has started on the five star hotel and convention project being developed in Surat, which is to have approximately 100 rooms, 65,000 sq. ft. as a convention and banqueting facility, three multi-cuisine restaurants and a 24-hour coffee shop, and other amenities. The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary called Lov Kush Properties. It has several achievements to its credit like the Emerging India Award-2006 as The Most Promising Small Enterprise of the Year given by CNBC TV-18, ICICI Bank - powered by Crisil.
