Amrutanjan Health Care (AMRUTAN), earlier known as Amrutanjan, is a Chennai-based company known for its eponymous pain balm and has been in existence for more than 110 years. Incorporated in the year 1936, it got its present name with effect from Nov. 5, 2007. Operating through its over-the-counter (OTC) and fine chemical divisions, the company manufactures and markets ayurvedic and allopathic products. The flagship product of the company is Amrutanjan pain balm.
Its health-care products include a variety of pain balms marketed under the brand name Amrutanjan, the Dragon liquid balm, cold snap and cold rub. Food products such as throat lozenges and digestive candies are marketed under the brand name Tingle and Balle. Its medical products include Diakyur - a health booster, Mridul - a herbal cough syrup and Agni - energizer capsules for men. The healthcare manufacturing units are located at Chennai and Hyderabad, while the fine chemicals division is in the Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu.
The installed capacities include 3 million cold rub (20 g) ayurvedic bottles, 5 million cold rub (5 g) ayurvedic tins, 20,000 (60 ml) cough mixtures, 180,000 (16g) dermal ointments, 2 million ayurvedic inhalers, 4 million ayurvedic strong balm bottles, 12.8 million jiffy tablets, 2 million (10 mg) vinblastine vials, and 200,000 (1 mg) vincristine vials. Data Quest Infotech & Enterprises, Amrutanjan Drugs and Chemicals, Egattur Printing and Packaging and Swas Health Products are subsidiaries of the company. The company has established a distribution network comprising of around 350,000 retailers and 1,750 stockists across India.
