Amara Raja Batteries (AMARARAJA) is engaged in manufacturing batteries for the automotive and the industrial sector. The company was incorporated as a private limited company on Feb. 13, 1985 and converted into a public limited company on Sept. 6, 1990. The managing director of the company is Ramachandra N. Galla and Jayadev Galla, the managing director.
The company has a range of automotive batteries sold under the brand name Amaron like Pro, Hi-Life, Hi-Way, Harvest, Go, Fresh, Optima, Shield, Gems, and Tips. Original manufacturer (OE) customers include Hyundai, Maruti Udyog, GMIL, HML, Ford and others. It is the market leader in India in the VLRA segment with 42% market share.
In the industrial segment, it offers Powerstack, a modular range with varying capacities; and Quanta, a UPS battery with fail-safe, fool-proof battery technology. They find application in sectors like railways, UPS, defence, oil and gas, and power control. Customers include BSNL, MTNL, Lucent, Alcatel, Seimens, BHEL, CGL, and others. The company has technical collaboration with US-based Johnson Controls. The plant is located in Karakambadi, Tirupati. The existing facility is ISO 9001, QS 9000 and TS 16949 certified by RWTUV Germany.
Latest awards include Ford World Excellence Award. The company`s franchisee outlets are known as PitStop, and it has more than 130 PitStops across India.
