Sathavahana Ispat (SATHVANI) is engaged in the manufacture and sale of pig iron. It was incorporated on Nov. 8, 1989. The company manufactures basic grade pig iron, which is used in the manufacture of steel and foundry grade pig iron used in making castings. Pig Iron is primarily used as a basic raw material for engineering products and is used in the construction, foundry, and engineering industries. The company manufactures and sells metallurgical coke and granulated slag products. It is one of the lowest cost producers of pig iron. The company has its manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with a capacity of 210,000 MT and 150,000 MT for the manufacture of pig iron and metallurgical coke respectively. As part of forward integration, the company is to set up a 300,000 MTPA metallurgical coke and a 30 MW co-generation power unit in Karnataka as a green field project. The company has a technical collaboration with Chinashougang. The company is a market leader in South India with a strong brand and quality of product. In September 2006, It has entered into a power purchase agreement with Power Trading Corporation of India for the sale of 18 MW to 24 MW power from the company`s greenfield project for a period of five years from the commercial operations date.
