Relaxo Footwear (RELAXO) is engaged in manufacturing slippers, joggers, casuals and school shoes. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Sep. 13, 1984 and was subsequently converted into a public limited company on Mar. 31, 1993. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company offers footwear in the categories of Hawaii, Casual, Joggers, and Schoolmate. It has nine manufacturing units with a combined production capacity of over 100 million pairs per annum catering to premium shoe brands like Nike and Dunlop and with a customer base of around 100 million people in India. The company has a separate export division catering to the markets in USA and Europe. The client list includes a number of international brands. Relaxo Footwears plunged 10% to Rs 375 after reporting 52% y-o-y decline in net profit to Rs 4.30 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2011, on account of increase in raw material and employee cost. The footwear maker had a net profit of Rs 9.03 crore in a year ago period. However, net sales grew 10% at Rs 199 crore. The company's expenditure on consumption of raw material increased 24% to Rs 104 crore during the recently concluded quarter. Besides, the employee cost too rose. A combined 18,891 shares were traded today.
