The parent company and Warner Lambert (the parent company of Parke Davis) agreed to a USD 90-billion merger to create the world`s fastest growing pharma company. In 2003, the shareholders of Parke Davis India were allotted four shares of Pfizer for every nine shares held by them in PDI, and consequently the paid up equity of the company has increased by Rs 53.6 million. Pfizer`s product portfolio includes therapeutic classes from vitamins supplements and nutritionals to antibiotics and cardiovasculars. The company with a market share of 2.6 per cent was ranked ninth in the pharmaceutical industry in 2005. Compared with the market growth of 5.3 per cent, the company grew by 7.3 per cent. The company plans import substitution and resolving process problems encountered in formulation manufacturing for quality and productivity. It aims at studying the feasibility of using new manufacturing technology in its existing dosage forms. Also, it plans development of new dosage formulations, pharmaceutical and animal health divisions.
