Orient Abrasives (ORIABRAS), set up in 1974, is a manufacturer of calcined and fused alumina products and refractories and monolithics. It was set up in technical collaboration with Karborundum, Bentueky, Czechoslovakia by the Rajgarhia group, which has business interests in areas such as steel, abrasives, yarn, synthetics, telecom, packaging and fabrication. APM Industries is a group company. The ISO 9001 certified company produces luminous raw materials including brown, white and pink fused alumina; white fused mullite, fused zirconia mullite (zirmul), fused alumina-magnesia spinnel, calcined bauxite and high alumina refractory cement. These products cater to the needs of grinding wheel and refractory manufacturers, shot blasting and cleaning purposes.
The refractory products division provides a wide range of special refractories and monolithics to meet the needs of the iron and steel industry. The product range includes isostatically pressed continuous casting refractories, slide gate plates, nozzles and well blocks, tundish nozzles, bottom purging refractories and top purging lances, slag arresting darts, basic spray mass for tundish working lining, and castables. The manufacturing units are located at Porbandar in Gujarat and Bhiwandi in Rajasthan with installed capacities of 21,000 MTPA aluminum oxide grains, 74,250 MTPA calcined products, and monthly production of 20,000 pieces of slide gate plates, 18,000 pieces of continuous casting refractory products and over 2,000 tons of catables and mortars. It has an in-house R&D facility which supports the division`s product development initiatives and is recognized by the Government of India. Orient Abrasives has a significant presence in the global market place exporting to Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, Greece, Spain, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Thailand, Iran and Austria to name a few.
