Novopan Industries (NOVOPAN), incorporated on Jul. 15, 1974, is a manufacturer of particle boards and other panels/panel products. Through a scheme of reverse merger, it was merged with GVK Hotels and consequently got its current name in 1994. It is the flagship company of the GVK group, which has business interests in hotels, contract research services, infrastructure and power with projects valued at over Rs 100,000 million across the country. Other group companies include GVK Power & Infrastructure and its subsidiary GVK Industries. Presently, the company generates revenue from its two business segments of panels and contract/consultancy. Basic products are melamine-fused particle boards in different thicknesses and various sizes. It also comes in interior and exterior applications. The company used the technical expertise of Fahrni Institute, Zurich for its particle- board business and Funder of Austria provided the lamination technology. It has developed Novopan-exterior grade particle board completely through in-house expertise. Among the latest introductions are products like post-forming laminates and high abrasion anti-static flooring grade particleboards. As part of forward integration, the concept of machine-made furniture for prelaminated particle board business has eliminated the dependency on manual carpentry. The ease and convenience of this ready-to-assemble office furniture met the demands of a growing market. The company has a subsidiary GVK America in the US. It has merged the particle board division of GVK Novopan Industries, the resin-manufacturing division of GVK Petrochemicals and Novofurniture with itself, which has enhanced production capacity of the company by more than 100% and made it the largest particle board manufacturer in the country with three manufacturing units in the Medak and Mehboobnagar districts of Andhra Pradesh. Plain particle boards are also imported from Malaysia. The NOVOPAN brand of products has presence in the interiors of several government institutions like MES, Housing boards, CPWD, DoT as well as corporate offices and banks with its. Some of the major original equipment manufacturers using company products include Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co., Featherlite, and B.P. Ergonomics. Over the past few years products have been extensively used in the information technology industry for office furniture and interiors.
