Dredging Corporation of India, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, was established in 1976 in the public sector to provide dredging and maritime development services to the major ports of the country in India. The company offers four types of dredging services, namely, maintenance and capital dredging, beach nourishment and reclamation. Currently, the company has 10 trailer suction dredgers which are used in the maintenance dredging works, and two cutter suction dredgers used in capital dredging works. The company is one of the stakeholders of Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project and has been alloted 13 million cubic metres dredging work on nomination basis. The company being a MINI RATNA- CATEGORY-I enterprise, has enhanced autonomy with regard to capital expenditure, establishment of joint ventures, overseas offices, technology alliances, etc.
