Dhunseri Tea & Industries (DTIL), incorporated on May 11, 1916, is an integrated tea company. It is the flagship company of the Kolkata-based Dhunseri group having business interests in tea plantations, synthetic blended yam and resins. Major group companies include Jaipur Polyspin, Tezpore Tea Company and Madhuting Tea. Investment ventures like Mint Investment, Mayfair India, Trimplex Investments and others also form part of the group. The main business is to manufacture loose and packaged tea. The company sells its products under the brand names Lal Ghora, Kala Ghora and Chhote Lal, which have a major market share in Rajasthan. It has the Dilli Tea Estate in Parbatpur, Namsang Tea Estate in Jeypore, Bahadur Tea Estate and Khetojan Tea Estate in Tinsukia, Hatijan Tea Estate and Santi Tea Estate in Hoogrijan, Dhunseri Tea Estate and a packaging unit in Mazbat, and Khagorijan Tea Estate in Sapekhati, all across Assam covering around 1,248 hectares of plantation area. The other tea packaging unit is at Jaipur in Rajasthan. Madhuting Tea, in which the company has a 50% stake, has two tea estates. On account of the amalgamation of Tezpore Tea Company and UNI Stock with the company, its post acquisition share holding would aggregate more than 50% in South Asian Petrochem making it a subsidiary as on Mar. 31, 2008.
