Clariant Chemicals India (CLARICHEM), part of the Clariant group, is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of dyes and specialty chemicals for textiles, leather, paper and masterbatches for plastics and fibers. Formerly known as Colour-Chem, the company was incorporated on Dec. 27, 1958. The chairman of the company is R.A. Shah and H. Meier, the vice president and managing director. The company operates through four divisions. The textile, leather and paper chemicals division provides complete solutions from fiber to fabric through a wide range of chemicals for pre-treatment, dyeing and finishing and also dyes for various substrates and applications. The division has a state-of-the-art technical service center in Thane and four regional laboratories in Surat, Panipat, Tirupur and Bangalore. The pigments and additives division develops and produces pigments for paints, plastics, inks, cosmetics, detergents and special applications like viscose, latex, ..etc. The product range includes high-performance pigments for the automotive and coil-coating industries; printing pigments; additives for heat, light and weather resistance; halogen-free flame retardants; solvent soluble dyes; and high-quality waxes. The functional chemicals division mainly supplies products from Clariant associate companies for the Indian detergents (anionic and cationic surfactants, bleach activators), crop protection, personal care, performance chemicals and metalworking oilfield, aerospace and automotive markets. It has manufacturing facilities for laminating adhesives and a few other products. The masterbatches division supplies colored concentrates, additives and special mixtures for plastics and fibers that find application in automobiles, textile and technical fibers, electronic and electrical devices, home appliances, toys, medical devices, sporting goods and packaging. The company is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. The company acquired Chemtreat Composites India, which manufactures polysilazane resins.
