Century Plyboards India (CENTPLY), makers of the well-known Century brand of plywood and decorative veneers, was set up in 1986 in Kolkata. It got its present name on June The ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified company manufactures the entire range of commercial, marine, concrete, shuttering and decorative plywood and is India`s leading plywood manufacturer. It has a ferro alloys division with a newly set up 13.8 MW captive power plant. The manufacturing unit is located in the 24 Paraganas South district of West Bengal and Shillong in Meghalaya with installed capacities of 2.4 million laminate sheets, 800,000 sq. m. pre-laminated particle boards, 25,400 cubic meters plywood, 50,200 cubic meters veneers, and 10,620 MTPA ferro silicon. Jetty operations are conducted on a licence basis with the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India. Cement Manufacturing Co. (CMCL) and Megha Technical & Engineers (MTEPL) are subsidiaries of the company. CMCL operates a clinker and cement unit at Lumshnong, Mehalaya and MTEPL is engaged in the generation of power at Lumshnong, Meghalaya, hiring of heavy equipment and vehicles used for mining, and has also set up a clinker grinding unit which commenced operations in May, 2007. The combined installed capacity of both the subsidiaries is around 1 million MTPA of cement. In 2006-2007, the company acquired controlling interest in Auro Sundaram fly & Doors, which operates a plywood unit at Raipur Industrial Area, Uttarakhand.
