Bombay Rayon Fashions (BRFL) is engaged in the manufacture and sale of a variety of fabrics, garments and home textiles. A flagship company of the Bombay Rayon Group, it was incorporated on May 21, 1992, became a public limited company on Oct. 13, 1992, and got its current name on Sept. 30, 2004. The chairman of the company is Janardan Agarwal and Prashant Agarwal, the managing director. The company offers fabrics like premium shirting, suiting, voils and fashion garments; apparel collection for office and casual wear; home textiles with a focus on exporting beddings. The company recently started production at its unit in Doddaballapur, Karnataka, which has a production capacity of 100,000 meters and 22,000 pieces of garments a day. The company has 12 plants in the country and is setting up one in Bangalore. The company recently acquired Leela Scottish Lace, a garment manufacturer and earlier acquired 70% stake in DPJ Clothing, which markets clothing. The company is to enter the apparel retail segment through its subsidiary Bombay Rayon Retail with 76 stores in two years. The company would be investing Rs 2 billion in two years and will be introducing its private label in 25 stores this year. The company exports 100% of its garments to Europe and USA and supplies fabrics to the domestic garment exporters. It has a subsidiary, BRFL Europe in Almere, Netherlands and exports to the likes of Calvin Klein and Steve & Barry. With offices in Amsterdam and London, the company plans to set up a design-cum-marketing office in New York.
