Bannari Amman Spinning Mills (BANNARI), a part of Bannari Amman group, is a manufacturer of cotton yarn. Incorporated on Jul. 10, 1989, the company got its current name on Oct. 11, 1991. The promoter and chairman of the company is Dr. S.V. Balasubramaniam and S.V. Arumugam is the managing director of the company. The product range includes combed and carded knitting cotton yarn.
The company is moving from being primarily a yarn manufacturer to fabric and garment manufacturer. It has its spinning division in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu with an installed capacity 29,232 spindles and is capable of producing more than 35,000 lbs/day of combed & carded ring spun yarn from 6s to 40s count, mainly hosiery yarn for the knitting market. An additional spinning mill with 75,000 spindles is to be added.
The weaving division in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu has 28 Sulzer projectile wider width looms and is to have 88 looms with the addition of further Sulzer projectile looms of wider width in dobby and jacquard and also latest generation air jet terry towel wider width looms, with warping and sizing machines. The expansion plans would be complete by 2007-2008 which includes a state-of-the-art technology woven fabric processing plant for wider width fabric with bleaching and dyeing facilities, calendering and sanforizing. This would be complimented by a garmenting and home textile unit. Power generation through windmills will meet 68% of its total power requirement. The company caters to Tirupur, Calcutta, Mumbai and Kanpur markets and exports its products to Israel, Mauritius, Egypt, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, HongKong, Srilanka, and Taiwan.
