Vesuvius India (VESUVIUS) is currently engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of specialty ceramics, refractory products and control systems for industrial applications. It was incorporated on Nov. 27, 1991 and got its present name on Nov. 6, 1992. The company is a subsidiary of the Vesuvius group, the world`s largest manufacturer of casting refractories, which is present in 30 countries across 5 continents and has business interests in iron and steel, foundry, glass, solar, aluminum and non ferrous, mineral processing, hydrocarbon processing and power generation.
The ISO 9002 certified company provides isostatically-pressed alumina graphite consumable products, lining materials, insulating materials, refractories and slide gate systems, temperature measurement instruments and process automation equipment for the continuous casting of steel. The foundry supplies a range of ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, castings and refractories including brick linings, flow control products and crucibles used to melt and transfer molten materials. The glass division supplies a range of refractories for float glass manufacturing and Zyarock brand of products are used in industrial environments and applications such as glass processing, glass transformation, steel processing, and non-ferrous metal processing.
Refractory products are also supplied for applications in aluminum, cement, lime, mineral processing, hydrocarbon processing and power generation. The production capacity of the company would be doubled at its Vishakhaptnam facility, which commenced production at the new site in December 2007, and in Calcutta, by early 2008. Following the global acquisition of Foseco by Cookson Group Plc, the company can now offer Foseco metallurgical products to its Indian customers. It caters to SAIL, Tata Steel, Mukand, Kalyani, Musco, Ennore Foundries and Lakshmi Machine Works to name a few. Exports are routed to West and East Asia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kenya, Ghana, Bangladesh, Singapore and Taiwan.
