Unichem Laboratories (UNICHEMLAB) is a pharmaceuticals company engaged in manufacturing formulations and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). It was incorporated on Aug. 22, 1962. The company operates through its business divisions. The Unichem Pharma division has over 25 brands for pain management, anti infectives, anti allergics, digestives and nutritionals like Trinergic and Aroff. The Unichem specialties division launched in January 2006 has reached nearly 22,500 doctors including orthopaedicians , surgeons , gastroenterologists , physicians , intensivists and paediatricians. With eight brands including Losar and Trika, the Unisearch CV division focuses on cardiology with presence in tranquilizers and nutritionals.
The Unisearch CD division contributes with 11 brands including Metride and emerging brands like Telser and Teram in diabetology and cardiology. The CNS segment of neurology and psychiatry is looked after by the Neu Foreva division with 16 brands including Serta, C-Pram S, and Trika SR. The ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified company has formulations manufacturing facilities in Goa, Baddi, and Ghaziabad with manufacturing capacities of 2,798 million tablets, 465 million capsules, 20 million vials, 6 million dry syrup units, 30 million injections and 12 million liquid syrup units per annum per shift. The API plant in Roha has an installed capacity of 1,500 MTPA with another plant in Pithampur. The company is setting up a special economic zone (SEZ) by March 2009 in Pithampur to manufacture finished drugs and a new plant in Baddi. The R&D facilities are recognized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The company has been approved by UK MHRA (earlier MCA), MCC (South Africa), WHO (Geneva) and TGA (Australia) and exports APIs to over 50 countries globally.
