Sambandam Spinning Mills (SAMBNDSPQ) is mainly into the business of manufacturing and marketing 100% cotton yarn. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Nov. 7, 1973 and became a public limited company on Jun. 17, 1994. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company 100% auto-coned and siro-cleared cotton; single and multi-ply yarn; carded and combed weaving and knitting yarns; ring-doubled, wet-spliced and TFO yarn; and gassed yarn. It has five manufacturing locations across Tamil Nadu with an installed capacity of 110,000 spindles. It has started implementing an expansion program under TUF scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 1,070 million in FY07. The company has energized three wind energy converters at a cost of Rs 186 million in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu in FY07.
