Kamat Hotels India (KAMATHOQ) owns and manages hotels and restaurants. It was incorporated on Mar. 21, 1986. The company operates the five-star hotel The Orchid with 245 rooms; the four-star Lotus Suites with 190 rooms, Vital Kamats Restaurant, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodini, and Catering Institute in and around Mumbai; the Kamat Hotels Siddharth in Nasik with 32 rooms; and the recently opened The Orchid Heritage in Pune with 40 rooms. The company has bagged a total of 34 and 19 international awards. Besides being Asia`s only ISO 14001 certified, eco-friendly five-star hotel, The Orchid has recently won prestigious awards like the Pacific Area Travel Writes Association (PATWA) award for the Best Chain Hotel for Eco Tourism and Best Environmentally Responsible Individual Hotel award conferred by The British Travel Awards 2006 in London. Entering into contracts and agreements, the company manages Lotus in Aurangabad; Lotus Suites in Amboli, Belgaum and Baroda; Sunny International in Nagpur; Mango and Vithal Kamats Restaurant in Sawantwadi, Vithal Kamats Restaurant in Nasik and Mahad. It has planned to add an additional 126 rooms to The Orchid. In FY07, the company entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for Study of Social Change to manage their proposed star category hotel in Bandra, Mumbai; a joint venture with BSEL Infrastructure Realty and Unity Infraprojects to build, operate and manage a 200-room, five-star hotel and a 200-room, three-star hotel in Balewadi, Pune; and a joint venture with Concept Hospitality to form Kamat Concept Hospitality to manage the White Orchid Hotel at Vaishnovdevi in Jammu.
